I came across a post at Reformed Nazarene that does a review of a book that is published and promoted for the Nazarene youth through Barefoot Ministries. The name of the book is called Sacred Time. You can read Reformed Nazarene’s review of the book here.
Many people scoff when it is pointed out that the Nazarene chuch, and other denominations as well, are embracing many elements of Roman Catholicism. There truly is a movement taking place, under people’s radar, towards ecumenical unity with the Catholic faith.
**UPDATE: November 30, 2009 - NazNet has removed the link which shows the advice from other Nazarene pastors and lay people that tell Shea Zellweger to bring emergent ideologies and contemplative practices into his congregation slowly so the Millry Nazarene congregation doesn’t get alarmed.
The emergent church movement is the pivotal piece to make this seem palatable to the youth and older congregants who, for the most part, have been blind to the infiltration of Catholic teachings. The strategy that is recommended to implement Catholic mystical prayer practices is a take it S-L-O-W and easy method……bring it in s l o w l y. Here, a sample of that advice can be found in this public Nazarene forum when a young Nazarene pastor laments that he was confronted about emergent teachings, and a few people from NazNet advise him to bring in the spiritual formation exercises and changes s l o w l y into his congregation. Click here to read the thread…..the advice to implement change slowly begins at Comment #20….as well as advice to dissuade his congregants from being concerned about what the Concerned Nazarenes are trying to reveal to the Nazarene denomination.
